We are RADAR, Rochdale Action with Destitute Asylum seekers and Refugees
We exist to serve the asylum seeker and refugee community in Rochdale:
- Welcoming and supporting
- Housing in comfortable safe conditions
- Raising awareness of their needs and experiences
RADAR was formed in 2019 after a group of people from several different churches and social action groups met together out of concern for destitute asylum seekers, that is those who were homeless after being refused asylum.
The group was formally launched at a Civic Service in Rochdale Parish Church. Also, at this service a “A Covenant for Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Rochdale” was signed by the leaders of several faith and social action groups and civic leaders, committing them to support and serve asylum seekers and refugees in Rochdale. The signatories included The Anglican Bishop of Middleton, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salford, The Mayor of Rochdale and the two local Members of Parliament.
RADAR became a registered Charity (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in 2021.
